After years of designing, tweaking & Frankensteining hundreds of circuits & finally finding those delicious demented tones, we figured others might want them too! & as the big purple dinosaur taught us, sharing is caring. With the help of some great friends, an incredible online DIY community, & local small businesses, Hangman fx was born. All Hangman fx pedals are assembled right here in Los Angeles, CA. They are very much hand-made works of art, from the custom LED lenses to hand-wiring & even drilling & screenprinting enclosures ourselves. For anything we can’t do or create in-house, we utilize the talent & ingenuity of fellow boutique businesses in the U.S. of A. as much as possible. Don’t forget to check out our Pinkman Special Editions which are vibrant pink versions of our pedals; 20% of the total cost is donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Owner/Operator Paul J. Meredith was born in a sun-bleached sandy seaside hospital in Orange County, California. In his early teen years—OK OK STOP! This is weird talking in the 3rd person. We all know I couldn’t afford a copywriter to write this for me, we’re a boutique company in Los Angeles where a cheeseburger costs $45. In short, I spent my young adult years playing in lots of different bands around Southern California, from folky blues to grindcore to comedy. Then I discovered another love…building stuff! I spent a few years building all kinds of things until I realized something most would’ve realized much sooner—I should combine passions & build musical things! I found a love in the form & function of pedal making—combining numerous different artistic & technical mediums, learning from passed-down knowledge of previous designers reading schematics like paintings in a cave, the endless possibilities of sonic landscapes & aural textures……also building guitars was too hard. So here we are!

Due to being a small company with limited resources, some minor aspects of the pedals are subject to change in the future (don’t worry, nothing related to how killer they sound!). For instance, only the first runs of each pedal will have the explanation of the LED lens lasered into the backplate, & only the first 50 of each pedal has the Special Artifact LED & pure brass front plate. Depending on manufacturers & retailers, small things like the knobs or gold-plated jacks might have slight alterations as well for future runs. Essentially what this means is the first run is pretty special, so get em’ while they’re hot! As far as future releases, we’ve already got several really cool things up our sleaves, so it shouldn’t be long before you see exciting new releases!

Let’s keep things simple! As long as our hands work & our hearts beat we’ll try to fix your pedal. No matter what happened to it. If for some reason it’s broken beyond repair (i.e. you poured acid on the PCB or “accidentally” threw it in a wood chipper), we’ll offer a brand new replacement at a discounted rate (dependent on how many parts are salvageable from your busted pedal). All direct sales are final—no refunds, returns, or exchanges. This may change if we evolve from our garage, but for now, this policy is necessary.
