This Tyrannosaur MegaDriver is a B-Stock unit only due to it being a V1 design, having a white back plate (which is actually kinda cool), & a very small mark on the back next to the input jack. It’s also not in the first 50 serial numbers, meaning it doesn’t include the brass front plate or T.Rex bone fragments inside the LED. Catch this ferocious beast for a record low price while you can! The Tyrannosaur MegaDriver is an overdrive/fuzz-stortion pedal with an extreme gain range & 2 switchable gain boosts. The “Gain” toggle is simply an additional gain stage similar to the main stages of the circuit, while the “Gated” boost introduces an independent JFET circuit that adds fuzzy crackle, gating & brightness. The right footswitch can be configured inside the pedal to either turn on the Gated Boost or flip between the two Growl knobs like having 2 Tyrannosaurs on your board. The Meat knob can dial in some serious fat, and the Roar and Growl knobs cover a massive range of gain allowing you to go from a punchy clean tone to thunderous fuzz-stortion. This dynamic beast can cover a wild range of genres and tones.

  • The Tyrannosaur MegaDriver is as brutal as the prehistoric predator himself. Hunting for the most versatile yet full-bodied dirt circuits in the wild (because who doesn’t like swapping 2-3 pedals on your board for just one?), we came upon a true diamond in the rough—a type of gain stage that hasn’t been utilized by many pedals over the years. You’re probably wondering, is the Tyrannosaur an overdrive? Distortion? Fuzz? The answer is...yes. Like most of our offerings, it’s at least 2-pedals-in-1.

    To break it down as simply as possible, every knob & toggle switch is a different gain stage, & they all react differently to each other so a wide range of styles & gain can be dialed in. Firstly, the Meat control is a tone control, however it’s placed early in the circuit. This means increasing Meat boosts low-end & slightly increases the gain. Next up is the Growl control which alters the overall gain & exists at 2 different levels, switchable using the right footswitch & ext. jack, allowing you to instantly flip between 2 different levels of gain like having 2 Tyrannosaur MegaDrivers on your board! Then comes the Roar stage. Being towards the end, it acts as a sort of hybrid volume/gain control. The “Gain” toggle switch is simply an additional gain stage at the end of the circuit (but before the Gated Boost).

    & last but certainly not least, the Gated Boost toggle—an entirely independent JFET dirt circuit that sends the Tyrannosaur into MegaDrive! Being more treble-focused, it’s a great way to increase high end when Meat is maxed for one of the most full-bodied high-gain drives you can imagine! Tweak the amount of gating & crackle with the internal “Bias” trimpot to help achieve lower gain tones without the gating interfering or higher gain with zero noise. You can also dial down the gain to a super gated, crackly tone then add another dirt pedal after the Tyrannosaur, turning any dirt pedal into a crackly fuzz. The Gated Boost can be switched by the right footswitch & ext. switcher instead of the Growl knobs if selected inside the pedal.

    There’s a whole lotta power in these 3 knobs & 2 switches, so start turning & toggling until you find the growls & roars you’ve been searching for!

  • The Tyrannosaur MegaDriver lives inside a durable yet beautiful sand-texture enclosure with pure aluminum knobs, gold-plated jacks, and a custom solid brass serial number plate. While supplies last, Hangman fx custom LED lenses contain fragments of rare artifacts inside them related to the pedal’s name. The TMD’s lens contains pieces of actual Tyrannosaurus rex fossilized bone recovered on private land in South Dakota from the Hell Creek Formation.
